Mark King Back With Rotosound

Mark King, founder, lead singer and bassist with legendary band Level 42 is back with Rotosound and will be using their Swing Bass and Super Bronze strings on forthcoming ‘Running in The Family @ 25’ UK and European tour later this year.

With thirty million record sales across the world, eighteen albums and twenty top forty hits Level 42 are widely regarded as one of most influential UK bands. As part of the 25th anniversary of the release of their seminal album ‘Running in the Family’ (RITF), Universal Music are also re-releasing the RITF as a box set including an acoustic version of the album where Mark used Rotosound Super Bronze strings.

London’s Southbank Centre to host Institute’s 2012 Graduation Ceremony

The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance is proud to announce its 2012 Graduation Ceremony will be held at the prestigious Queen Elizabeth Hall at the Southbank on Saturday 3rd November 2012.

The Southbank Centre is one of the largest arts centres in the world, occupying a 21-acre site in the midst of London’s most vibrant cultural quarter on the South Bank of the Thames. The site consists of the Royal Festival Hall, the Hayward Gallery, Queen Elizabeth Hall, and the Saison Poetry Library.

The Institute already has a great history of hosting its Graduation Ceremony at some impressive venues in including the Shepherds Bush Empire and Indigo2 at the Millennium Dome. This will be the first year the Institute has used the famous Southbank Centre and is the direct result of the school’s ever-enhancing reputation within the academic sector. Now providing a range of BA, BMus and MMus courses for contemporary musicians, the Institute continues to develop its standing as an internationally recognised school of modern music.

As well as this year’s graduates receiving their awards, the event will see acoustic performances from a selection of student artists. There will be special awards for students who have earned particular recognition, and a keynote address from a guest speaker tbc. More details are yet to be confirmed, but it’s guaranteed to be a high quality celebration.

Leading London Music School Announces Major Expansion and Investment in Facilities

The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance, widely regarded as one of the world’s leading providers of music education, is investing over a quarter of a million pounds in the learning environment in the coming year. The investment provides both an enhancement of the existing facilities and provision of new professional equipment, including a broadcast quality recording studio, bespoke teaching rooms, live performance spaces, drum booths, keyboard and technology suites, student recreation areas and associated facilities.

As part of this on-going investment, the Institute is also expanding its London facilities by over 40% resulting in the London campus extending to over 20,000 square feet of new, custom built, facilities. Paul Kirkham, Managing Director at the Institute, said:

‘We are delighted to announce this new expansion and investment in our facilities in London. We have been focusing on the reorganisation and upgrading of the Institute for several years now, and this is the next phase in our plans to continually provide our students with state-of-the-art equipment in a learning environment of the highest quality.
