Author of A Drummer’s Perspective, David Phillips, met Mike Weatherley MP at the House’s of Parliament yesterday to find out more about the Rock The House charity.
Mike Weatherley wants to raise the political profile of the UK’s music industry, so started the Rock The House Charity last year. The charity runs an annual competition where MP’s nominates an unsigned, up and coming artist, band or live music venue from their constituency with a view to raising the awareness of intellectual property rights and the importance of live music to the UK economy in parliament.
David Phillips, a UK based marketing and public relations consultant for a number of major musical instrument manufacturers, charities and educators began working with Mike recently to help raise the public awareness of the competition. ‘I work with British music industry everyday, ‘said David, ‘I know how important the support of new bands, artists and venues is to the continuing of a strong healthy music business. I am proud to be able to support Rock The House with my services and to be able to offer my book as part of the prize.’
